The survey allows the company to determine what the hottest destinations are and how many people intend to travel over the summer and compare those results to previous years. Domestically, TripAdvisor discovered that people will be flocking to the following destinations the most this summer:

- Las Vegas, Nevada
- New York City, New York
- Destin, Florida
- Ocean City, Maryland
- Orlando, Florida
- Virginia Beach, Virginia
- San Francisco, California
- San Diego, California
- Key West, Florida
The majority of these destinations are either major cities which have a draw throughout the year, or they are beachside towns with luxurious resorts perfect for a relaxing vacation filled with lots of fun in the sun.
International
TripAdvisor’s top international destinations are not determined by the same survey but by an algorithm that looks into how many positive reviews and ratings each international location received over the past year. For 2014, the hottest international destinations appear to be:
- Istanbul, Turkey
- Rome, Italy
- London, England
- Beijing, China
- Prague, Czech Republic
- Marrakesh, Morocco
- Paris, France
- Hanoi, Vietnam
- Siem Reap, Cambodia
- Shanghai, China
Rome, London, Paris and Prague have long been top international destinations, but we are pleased to see travelers branching out into the Middle East and Southeast Asia instead of just sticking to the familiarity of Europe.
